Rado

A watch you can wear every day for any occasion Note this reviewer owns the Ceramica Multifunction, but the following comments and facts pertain to all Rado Ceramica models. Also, as of Christmas 2008 the industry is noticing an uptick in the numbers of fake Rados on the marketplace and there are numerous ways to spot a fake /BUT THE SHORTEST AND QUICKEST METHOD IS JUST USE A SMALL REFRIGERATOR MAGNET WHEN HANDLING THE BRACELET AND CLASP. Caution: Many enlightened watch owners will take offense when holding a magnet to their wristwatch but a small magnet won't damage a Rado movement and will NEVER STICK TO ANY PART OF THE CERAMICA BRACELET OR CLASP SINCE IT IS COMPOSED OF CERAMIC, HIGH QUALITY RESIN AND TITANIUM AND NONE OF THESE MATERIALS ARE FERRIC OR REACT TO A MAGNETIC FIELD. If any magnet large or small sticks to a Ceramica bracelet or any other part than it should be considered suspect. A large size office paperclip has more ferric elements than an entire and genuine Ceramica. A Ceramica can pass through the strictest courthouse and airport metal detectors even in Tel-Aviv and will never set off the alarm. This is one the most distinctive but lesser known watches ever made, the ceramic links have a mirror reflective quality which doesn't change in varying light conditions. Extremely lightweight, the ceramic band also absorbs the body heat of the wearer and feels almost like a second skin. The bracelet has a double locking titanium clasp that has never opened accidentally, links are extremely easy to adjust, this is the easiest watch I've ever resized, it doesn't even require tools. The bracelet can be adjusted by using something as simple as a pair of gym socks for a bench rest to hold another link pin steady while pushing out the existing anchors, then a simple pull of the extended anchor pin and you can start adding and removing links. The face is just as attractive as the rest of the timepiece and is no danger of being called anti glare, at any offset angle the face will reflect the surroundings just like the rest of the mirror links. There are some drawbacks to this timepiece, contrary to the manufacturers claims the watch isn't "scratch proof", it is very hard but isn't impervious to blemishes, these will occur when the watch becomes pinched between your wrist and a desktop or keyboard, they have to be viewed at an angle to be noticed and Rado has always offered to replace my scratched links at no charge when submitted for warranty service by an authorized dealer. The other drawback is this watch will prominently show fingerprints and other types of smudges that occur with just normal wear of a timepiece, if you enjoy wearing the watch or admiring it you will become annoyed and carry a jewelers cloth to erase the irksome marks. These watches have decent resale value, nothing less than you'd expect from a member of the Swatch Group, a word to the wise, have the battery changed by a competent jeweler familiar with exquisite timepieces, Rado watches are extremely cramped inside and have a reputation for being hard to open, the uninitiated often become frustrated and end up dropping the entire mechanism out of the case and sometimes damaging the movement and or improperly replacing the moisture seal for the caseback, this leads to either condensation or water damage. What you'll discover is this watch is perfect for that important job interview or casual enough with cutoff's on a July Sunday, bound to illicit compliments and questions this watch will never go out of style and distinguish you as anther happy Rado owner.
